When I founded The Life Mark Project in 2017, I did so with a mission to focus on the things that connected me to my cousin Mark. Beyond the shared passion for creating through design and code, most of my cousins also enjoyed video games–Mark was no exception. The Life Mark Project has been dormant while I took the time to decide on a direction that could be sustainable. We have continued to maintain our 501(c)(3) status with the IRS and have recently made changes to our banking situation to be in a better position in 2020 and beyond. Today I’m announcing that Full Playthrough will be our core program at LMP starting August 1, 2020.
About Full Playthrough
We’re building a new community for esports athletes, content creators, and their fans. Our mission is to help gamers compete and prepare for a Full Playthrough of life. Our platform will improve and provide access to mental health services, educational services, and professional services. We will address certain key areas to move the gaming community forward.
Addressing the Culture
The gaming world has been fraught with a level of toxicity that has grown exponentially in the past decade. Bigotry in many forms, transphobic and homophobic sentiments, and blatant racism, seems to be a staple to a certain subset of gamers. The amount of bullying that women, LGBTQ+, POC, and other content creators go through is unacceptable. We will address this by providing a community platform that takes inclusivity seriously, takes real action against those that violate our TOS, and providing support to our members. This is a long-term goal that will require funding to develop.
Addressing Life After Gaming
Parents, we’re here to help make gaming a healthy choice. The age of professional gamers has been getting younger over the last several years. We want to help support gamers (of all ages) with their educational goals so that they’re prepared for life after gaming–we jokingly call it LAG here on the Full Playthrough team. We will address this by providing access to tutoring services, counselors, and admissions professionals to help our members stay on track. Whether you’re trying to go to college, get training, or prepare for testing–our mission is to provide you the tools and resources to do your best work.
Addressing Mental Health
As previously stated in the first segment about addressing the culture, we remain committed as an organization to ending suicide. We will ensure that our partners and members know how to access free and low-cost services in their area to receive the support they need. Our team will work with other organizations in the gaming space to bring an end to the stigma of getting help with mental health, and work with wholesome creators who are champions of our mission.
In Constant Development
Full Playthrough is a work in progress, and we’re currently working on fundraising goals and plans to meet the needs of the program. If you are interested in being a volunteer, partner, or joining as a member of the platform, we will be creating a sign-up list over at www.fullplaythrough.com in the coming weeks.
